Cheers to clean living.
I’m going to let y’all in on a little secret. For the past few months I have been doing a cleanse. A cleanse of the people, places and things which no longer serve me. In this process I have learned that it is only when I am willing to surrender and let go, that I can invite new and fresh energy in whatever form that it may show up as, to come into my life. One of the ways that I have been experientially practicing this is through my diet. Aside from eating a nutrient dense diet of healthy foods, I have been testing out products and supplements that are known to have detoxifying properties. Based on my positive results, I want to share one of my favorites with y’all.
Meet Chlorophyll. This beautiful little green gem of a detoxifier has become a regular in my daily wellness routine.
What is it?
Chlorophyll is a type of plant pigment that allows for the absorption of light in the process of photosynthesis, hence resulting in energy. Aside from helping plants to thrive, it is full of nutrients that can benefit humans as well. Interestingly, chlorophyll has a similar molecular structure to that of hemoglobin, which is a vital part of human blood. The only difference is that the central atom for hemoglobin is iron, and for chlorophyll is magnesium. While it may be a powerhouse for plants, there are also a variety of reasons why humans should consume this super food.
Ten Amazing Benefits of Chlorophyll
- Anti Cancer Properties
- DNA Damage Protection
- Reduces Free Radical and Cell Damage
- Helps control hunger and cravings
- Promotes Healing
- Controls Body Odor
- Alkalizes the body (reduces acidity level)
- Helps to Reduce Swelling and Redness
- Stops Candida Albicans Growth
Best Ways to Consume
The best sources of this super food are found in foods containing it such as dark, leafy green vegetables such as cabbage, kale, lettuce, sprouts (especially alfalfa) and broccoli, and in supplement form.
With my busy and active lifestyle I prefer consuming it in a liquid form; a few drops mixed with water. This way, I can take it with me on the go making it easy and convenient to get my daily intake and it is the optimal solution to maximize its benefits.
In recent years, it is a product that has become more readily available and can be found in most health stores. As a fan of all things lean, green and clean and given the fact that I love to support local businesses, I use Land Art Chlorophyll 5X concentrated in Lime & Basil, and Mint flavours that is Canadian made from non GMO alfalfa. It is extracted using a super critical cold process, allowing for optimal freshness and to preserve all of its benefits.
